Best autoresponder for your internet email marketing campaigns

Use autoresponders to send automatic regular emails to your list or to broadcast any special information. If you help them they will stay your readers, and that is one of the most important asset of your business. Then, in the future, you can tell them about your future products or recommend other affiliate programs. For years I had hundreds of thousands of visitors each month but I didn't asked them to signup for my newsletter. Now I have to start over. Learn from my mistakes. And if you have imagination you can even find new uses for your autoresponder account. Why not use the usual signup confirmation page to offer a one time opportunity (usually called OTO)? That can be a very powerful technique without any extra tool. When choosing an autoresponder you have to choose one with a good delivery rate (who whitelist their IPs directly with email companies) or your emails will end on a spam / bulk folder. Conversion tools can also be very valuable and help you make the most out of your list. You don't need a big list, you need a responsive group of smaller targeted lists. Price should be your last concern so review them with care.  If you have a membership site with several levels (silver, gold, etc) setup a list for each one and let your members pay and signup for the right one. You don't need to setup and manage a membership script.

My advice is, and this isn't usually remembered, why not have 2 autoresponder accounts?

One cheaper for your newsletters or less valuable lists, and another of bigger quality for your buyers.

Aweber - for your smaller but precious lists because of their high quality tools and high deliverability.
GetResponse - for your big lists based on non-buyers, newsletters, free products or squeeze pages.

You can host an autoresponder on your server, but you will deal with spam complaints and lost mails.

I don't highly recommend them because of their prices, delivery rates or lack of features.

Why do you need a big list if your emails end up on the spam folder of Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL,  ... ?

Aweber is my choice, and even if it's not the cheapest, it's the best feature / price wise.
